5 Things You Need to Know
2023 Kia Seltos
While the 2023 Kia Seltos may seem unnecessary in light of the company’s present lineup, it has successfully filled a gap. The Seltos is on the larger end of the subcompact SUV market, giving it more passenger space than vehicles like the Hyundai Venue and the Nissan Kicks.
The Seltos, which debuted as a completely redesigned vehicle in 2021, will look exactly the same in 2023. It has two engine options and front-wheel or all-wheel drive, depending on which of the five model levels you choose.
All trims are offered with all-wheel drive while the base LX model is available with an optional front-wheel drive configuration. A 2.0L four-cylinder engine producing 146 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque is paired with a CVT in the all-wheel drive trims.
The Seltos may be smaller on the outside, but it has greater head and legroom for its passengers than its competitors. Heated front seats, smartphone integration, blind-spot and cross-traffic alert, tyre pressure monitoring, and a rearview camera are standard across all trims.
How is the 2023 Kia Seltos On the Road?
The top SX trim is expensive, but it has a turbocharged engine and a lot of extras, making it a smart pick. The transmission makes quick and easy shifts. This small SUV is a bit hesitant to get going from a stop, but it picks up speed rather quickly. It has one of the best accelerations in its class and can reach highway speeds in no time.
When the road curves, the Seltos becomes less striking. While the Seltos has fast steering and precise suspension settings, it nevertheless seems unduly nose-heavy and ill-suited to the task when driven with any degree of passion. Although well-made overall, the interior is devoid of any real substance and feels overly cheap due to the abundance of plastic used throughout.

⭐ Rated 7.6/10 by edmunds.com: |
The Kia Seltos is stylish, roomy, and available with plenty of the latest technology and safety features. It's rather quick, too, as long as you get the optional turbocharged engine. Comfort is lacking, however, and it's not a particularly fun SUV to drive. But overall the Seltos is worth a look along with other popular models such as the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona and Mazda CX-30. |

The Kia Seltos is a practical and stylish choice in subcompact SUVs. It offers unique styling that’s sleek and refined with a hint of ruggedness. This is a versatile SUV with a roomy interior for its small size, impressive Kia tech features, and excellent safety scores. All-wheel drive comes standard on most trims, which is a nice bonus. |
⭐ Rated 8.2/10 by usnews.com: |
The 2023 Kia Seltos is a great option if you're shopping for a subcompact SUV. Despite its small outward appearance, the Seltos boasts a tremendous amount of interior space for passengers and cargo. The cabin has an upscale look and feel, and occupants are treated to comfy seats, a user-friendly infotainment system and a host of standard safety features. The Seltos also rides and handles nicely, and Kia backs it with a lengthy warranty. If there is a hitch, it's that the Seltos' available dual-clutch transmission has a tendency to shudder at low speeds. We suggest sticking with the base engine and its smoother continuously variable automatic (CVT) even though this setup isn't as powerful. |
⭐ Rated 8.9/10 by motortrend.com: |
Despite its striking exterior, we have some gripes with the interior. Although the design is clean, Kia was a little too liberal with its use of hard plastics for our tastes. Otherwise, the interior is roomy and the seating is comfortable. Additionally, Kia offers plenty of tech to keep occupants connected and entertained. Offering FWD and AWD variants, the 2023 Seltos is a solid entry in the highly competitive subcompact crossover segment. We like it so much that we recommend compact shoppers take a look as well. |

The S Turbo and SX Turbo have a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four that pumps out 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. That's an amount consistent with bigger, pricier crossovers, and with less weight to lug around, it's consequently quicker. |
