5 Things You Need to Know
2023 Hyundai Santa Fe
The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe is a well-liked and well-rated midsize SUV that lacked personality until recently. In 2021, however, Hyundai updated the Santa Fe’s exterior with a new grille and remodelled the inside. It lacks the visual flair of the Hyundai Tucson, its smaller sibling, but it is nonetheless a pleasant crossover to operate thanks to its generous interior space and pleasant exterior design.
The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe’s 277-horsepower turbocharged engine makes it more powerful and faster than other compact and midsize SUVs on the market. However, if top speed isn’t required, the power delivery can be erratic and rough around the edges. Similarly off-putting is the fact that Hyundai seems to have adjusted the eight-speed automatic transmission to fast reach its highest gears.
The cabins within the Santa Fe provide generous space, notably in terms of legroom. The available panoramic sunroof reduces headroom for all passengers, but the rear seats recline far enough to make up for it. The most frequently used controls are actual buttons and knobs, and everything is well organized and simple to use.
The Santa Fe is still a great option for the money. The craftsmanship and material excellence are particularly noteworthy. You should also look at various alternatives, such as the Honda Passport, Subaru Outback, and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport.
What is New for the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe?
In 2021, Hyundai gave the Santa Fe a dramatic facelift that included new front and rear fascias, but the car now looks cluttered. The crossover’s cutlines diverge too frequently from the typical SUV silhouette. The Santa Fe’s cabin exudes an air of sophistication thanks to the 8.0- to 10.3-inch touchscreens and the metallic accents that adorn the air vents.
The Urban and Luxury editions now have synthetic leather upholstery. Hyundai has also made the 10.3-inch touchscreen, blind-spot cameras, and the motorized tailgate standard on more trim levels.

⭐ Review by motortrend.com: |
The 2023 Santa Fe is more premium than other SUVs from the Korean automaker. High-end models have upscale materials, details, and tech features. Regardless of how it's equipped, the Santa Fe's interior has an attractive design and plenty of space. The center console is packed with buttons, but the layout is easy to get used to. |

Anyone who may be traveling further afield and to higher elevations, especially with a family on board, should consider the turbocharged 281-horsepower alternative in the Limited and Calligraphy models. Granted, these are the most expensive variants, but the fuel bills won’t be that different. Mountain roads also involve tricky weather conditions, so select the option for all-wheel drive, which is priced quite reasonably. |
⭐ Review by edmunds.com: |
On a price-per-feature basis, the Santa Fe remains an excellent choice. The quality of materials and design are standouts even if a few small areas, particularly thinly padded door armrests, aren't perfect. But even the top-of-the-line Calligraphy trim level undercuts similarly equipped competitors yet offers a powertrain that is both quicker and more efficient. |
⭐ Review by thecarconnection.com: |
The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe crossover SUV posts great gas mileage and safety scores in Hybrid spec, but the Calligraphy edition will lure drivers who want real luxury, not near-luxury. |
⭐ Review by carsdirect.com: |
The Santa Fe isn’t pretending to be a Land Rover Defender, which would leave it standing in an off-road duel. Hyundai’s model does have eight inches of ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive on hybrids and plug-in hybrids (it’s an option on gas models). Four-wheel independent suspension keeps the car moving on rutted terrain, albeit rather noisily. The steering is responsive and quick, though stodgy handling means you’d never grab the keys and drive for the sheer hell of it. |
