When it comes to performance, refinement, and attitude, the GR Supra delivers in spades. There are 4 2023 Toyota GR Supra Trim levels available to choose from.

This two-seater, with its rear-mounted driver, is designed and constructed simultaneously as the BMW Z4. The base model’s 255-horsepower turbocharged inline-four is more than adequate, but it’s the GR Supra’s furious 382-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-litre BMW inline-six that really sets it on fire.

The A91-MT is a special edition model of the GR Supra that has just debuted. In addition, the suspension and steering have been fine-tuned, and a new driving mode called Hairpin+ has been added to help rotate the GR Supra around extremely tight, hairpin turns by allowing more wheelspin on one of the rear tires.

Overview

Toyota’s high-performance, two-seat sports coupe will continue to be honoured in 2023 with a special limited edition model, a new manual transmission choice, and upgraded road- and track-ready suspension and handling systems.

The Supra has reintroduced a six-speed manual transmission, although it can only be had with the optional turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six. With acceleration that can match or exceed that of cars like the Porsche Cayman GTS and BMW M2, the new Supra is a formidable rival to any of these models.

In addition to the 3.0 Premium manual’s distinctive cognac leather interior, unique 19-inch forged wheels, strut tower brace, and Alcantara-clad shift knob and shift boot, the new limited-edition GR Supra 3.0 A91-MT Edition also features these upgrades. It’s a rare opportunity because only 50 units will be made for Canada.

What’s New for 2023?

All 2023 models include retuned traction control, better brakes, and an anti-roll program added to the vehicle stability control system.

A new Hairpin+ feature has been added, which allows you to spin your wheels more freely when navigating a hairpin turn on a steep, high-friction surface. The overall quality of drifting has been raised, and this includes the Track Mode.

The 3.0 versions have seen a number of further improvements. All versions now come standard with an active rear sport differential, and the suspension and shock absorbers have been fine-tuned to increase roll balance and ride comfort. The electric power steering has also had its mechanical components and software fine-tuned for improved response and efficiency.

Performance

Two distinct powertrain options are available for the GR Supra: The 2.0 has a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine making 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, while the 3.0 has a 3.0L inline-6 making 382 hp.

For the 3.0L Premium and A91-MT Edition models, the brand-new Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) is a 6-speed gearbox with a large diameter clutch that optimizes the use of the vehicle’s power and torque. The 3.0L Premium and 2.0L models come with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters for drivers who want to drive without having to use their hands.

Interior Comfort

The GR Supra was designed to provide thrills behind the wheel. The 8.8-inch touchscreen in the GR Supra’s dash is essentially a skinned version of BMW’s current iDrive system. A leather-wrapped wheel and carbon fibre accents add to the year-round comfort provided by the heated seats and dual-zone automatic climate control.

If you’re used to BMW’s switchgear and infotainment controls, you’ll feel right at home in the Toyota, as its interior is largely borrowed from the Z4. The hatchback’s cargo area is small but sufficient for a week’s worth of supplies for two people or two suitcases each.

Infotainment and Safety Features

The 3.0 series includes Toyota Supra Connect, which provides a number of useful connection features like Automatic Emergency Call, Real-Time Traffic Information, roadside assistance, and iPhone compatibility as standard equipment.

The 12-speaker JBL Audio system with integrated Sirius XM satellite radio, GPS, and wireless Apple CarPlay will please audiophiles, but Android Auto is not available.

However, the 2.0 has a display audio system that includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen, a touchpad rotary control, and a USB audio input.
