What is Bird’s Eye View or Panoramic View Monitor

One of the most exciting features that come on the top trim of vehicles such as the RAV4 or Highlander is the Panoramic View Monitor System, also known as the Bird’s-eye View System. This system provides a greater range of visibility or the vehicle’s surroundings when parking; and boosts visibility when you want to be extra careful.

The panoramic view monitor system seamlessly combines images from 4 cameras mounted on the front, rear, left, and right sides of the vehicle using the touch screen.

When activated by pressing a button in the driver area or when you are backing up, the obstacles around the vehicle are displayed in real-time on the touchscreen.

When reversing, the rear sonar sensor may be triggered, and visible warnings will be displayed on the touch screen so you can easily understand the distance to objects close to the vehicle.

This system is not a substitution for safe driving practices. While the panoramic view systems are intended to enhance visibility around the vehicle, you should still check the vehicle’s surroundings and not rely solely on the screen view.

Visual observation use of mirrors and over-the-shoulder checks must always supplement the use of any bird’s-eye view system. The effectiveness of the panoramic view can be affected by factors such as passenger load, road grades, surface variations, and weather.
