The lane departure alert with steering assist is part of the Toyota Safety Sense. It comes with an audible alert and visual alert with automatic steering assistance to help mitigate lane departure.
Under the new TSS 2.0 system, lane departure alert is enhanced with an additional capability that enables steering assist to detect uncurbed road edges without visible Lane markers available.
This feature works best when there is a clear differentiation in color between the road and the color of the landscape beside it (for example, if a non-curbed road is lined with green grass). This feature will operate when the vehicle is traveling at speeds above 50 km/h.
The lane departure alert with steering assist feature is turned on and off via the LDA button located on the steering wheel on both manual and automatic equipped vehicles.
When it is on, the LDA symbol is illuminated in white in the multi-information display in the dash. The steering assist function must be turned on in order for the lane departure alert feature to provide steering assist. If the steering assist function is turned off, the lane departure alert feature will provide audible and visual alerts only.
